Farenthold Consulting is growing. We are in the process of planning and building out our new offices to better serve our clients. As a result we gave fallen a bit behind updating our public service and promotional web material like Web Corpus. Though we are doing what we have to do, we feel bad we are so fare behind on projects like Web Corpus. For that reason, we have put up this beta version of Web Corpus to incorporate more current listings before we have had a chance to flesh them out. Please excuse the appearance of these pages, any typos, or bad links. This is not a production quality page (yet) but it is more up to date than our main Web Corpus Page.

The big Internet search Engines like Alta Vista show over 10,000 hits mentioning Corpus Christi. Yahoo!'s Index of Corpus Christi is a little more reasonable, but not being a full text system misses a lot. We are slowly but surely weeding our way through the Web to give you a quality Index of the Web In Corpus Christi. We do this as a public service.. well.. OK, we also do a little shameless self promotion in hopes that if you need computer consulting or web design you'll think of us. (Click here if the promotion worked and you wanna read more about us. • A local TV guy collects World War II stuff and sells some on his Militaria from World War II page.. The page needs a little HTML work, but his products are cool if you are into war memorabilia. Note: We'll take over maintaining your collectibles page as a kickback if you can land us your TV station as a client
• Channel View Condominium Port Aransas, Texas is our client. They are an older property, but still one of the best.. and they are right on the ship channel with a great fishing pier.
• American Bank joins their major local independent competitor (Citizens Bank) on the web. It looks like American turned the web project over to a professional (or someone in their Computer Dpt. while the Citizen's page was done/inspired by one of their VP's). The American page is slicker, but Citizens has more personality. American Bank, however, wins in the long haul because Farenthold Consulting is one of their depositors and we know everyone there…. Hi guyes.. we're moving and may need a loan soon….)
• State Bar of Texas Computer Section.. Not really a Corpus site… but we do a lot of work (another freebie) on this page.

What's Hot

Aside from Our Stuff (this time of year our Ultimate South Texas Weather Page is the high tech way to track hurricanes). some Corpus area sites worth checking out include the. The Corpus Christi Caller Times., and their coolest feature, the ability to Search a partial archive of material from the paper.. There's also always the brother-in-law page, Software Kinetics, which is in fact my sister's-husband's brother's page. Citizens Bank has good pages that proves even a bank VP can learn to design web pages.

Some of the newer hot stuff includes The Coastal Bend Connection, an entertainment guide and more. If it's kept up to date, it'll be one of the most visited pages in town. Check out the Lists of Corpus Personal Homepages maintained by TAMUCC professor Kathryn R. Donohue. While at our local university, Dr. Pat Michaud's famous Strawberry Pop-Tart Blow-Torches is also worth a look.

  • It's kinda hard to find Dr. Pat Michaud's famous Strawberry Pop-Tart Blow-Torches page or it's companion Fun with Grapes - A Case Study (I suspect he doesn't want his students finding it!) He has an additional homepage behind the first, that you access by clicking on his name in the first page.
• Del Mar College finally got a school-wide homepage online, though the original Del Mar Collage Computer Science Dpt. Page has more interesting links, including a slightly out of date but still useful Comparison of Corpus Christi Internet Service Providers and Internet seminar papers. Check out UCLA (University of Corpus, Left on Ayers)
• Marine Science Institute - University of Texas UT in Port A provides a peek into their facilities, (including everything you ever wanted to know about their boats), tide tables (slow graphics) and a current porjects page
  • Texas A&M University- Kingsville is one of the fastest growing and most improved sites in the area. The Natural Toxins Institute, their snake site.is still one of their coolest.

• ChannelView Condominium in Port Aransas offers a cool fishing pier and nice condo rentals on the Island.
• Condominium Consulting Management Services, Inc. has a Port Aransas page promoting rentals at La Marage, Sandcastle, and Sandpiper. If you want to buy (or see more Port A stuff) check out Farenthold Consulting's client Whitten Real Estate or rent from out client ChannelView Condominium.
• The Corpus Christi Caller Times (our local daily paper) has an electronic edition that is graphic intense. Some of the updated daily. Their best feature allows you to do full text searches on back issues of the paper . Too bad they don't tell you how complete the database is (a search on "Farenthold" turned up this and this, but missed the big feature they did on personal homepages in November '95).
• Captain Wallace Kelley (the fishing guy on channel 3) has a home page for his fishing business with some cool fishing photos.
• Citizens Bank does a good corporate image page including Corpus Christi links and lots of info about the bank.
• "Come to the Coastal Bend of Texas for the Best Bay Fishing in North America" so says Coastal Bend Guides Association.
• Corpus Christi dot com is a Corpus Christi Electronic yellow pages, restaurant guide and more. There is a lot of good stuff. Too bad they compete with us for web design (buy a hyperlink listing from them and have us do your web page :-)

• Da Hut was one of the first Corpus Christi Businesses on the net, but has one of the dullest presentations we've seen. Buy a color monitor guys!

• Half Price Books and Cafe Calypso (their in store coffee bar) both have a single page storefront.
• Local manufacturer Horton Automatics makes all sorts of cool doors and drive up windows, but used a Houston firm to design their Web site.

• KMXR gives you a chance to see their DJ's pictures to along with weekly notes from their program director and a wide assortment of links. Also conspicuously absent is the one to Web Corpus!
• KFTX-WILD Country wins the best local radio station on the web away from KMXR.
• KRIS TV, our NBC affiliate Channel 6 is on the web, though they don't have the daily updates you'd hope for with news and full programming schedules, but they do have Dale Nelson's tomato tips, staff biographies, job listings, and quite a few links.

A guy in California sent us a letter and suggesting that we link to his pinups site instead claiming some sort of copyright dispute that Nick says is non existant. • Shelley's Travel Service has a page with lowest air fares from Corpus Christi updated weekly.
• Shirts & More (sorry about the typo on the last version of Web Corpus) has a simple page selling custom shirts, a computer T and an Interconnect (local ISP) shirt.

• Sheriff's candidate Sam Granato also has a page.
• The Coastal Bend Connection online Entertainment guide is too cool!
• The La Belle Project is a cool site with updates on salving the wreck of the La Belle, believed to be one of La Salle's ships. Much of the work on this project is being done at the Corpus Christi Museum of Natural History.
• Judicial candidate Robert Pate (rpate@blake.com) also has a campaign homepage.

• Corpus Christi Radio & TV Listings is a list (nothing more) of radio and television Stations compiled from a statwide list.
• It's amazing some of the things a search of the net will turn up. Take for example Will Christopher Baer's short story Corpus Christi published in The Next Savage State, the enhanced, electronic version of The New Censorship.
• Another offbeat find is he lyrics and chords of Corpus Christi Bay a song about life as a oil field worker in Corpus by Robert Earl Keen Jr. who has fan pages here, here, and here.
• The Texas Department of Commerce has a Corpus Christi Community Profile

• Historic rainfall Corpus or Other Texas Cities derived from The National Climatic Data Center is maintained by the Texas USGS.
• Information about auto racing course nationwide features the Cabaniss Home Page.
• The American Recovery Association Inc. (a trade group of repo men) has Web information on Universal Investigators in Corpus.
• There are also web sites down south worth checking out in The Rio Grande Valley and McAllen.

• Southwest Airlines (cool "home gate") profiles their destination cities, including Corpus Christi.
• The Tejano Page has a tribute to slain Corpus Christi tejano star Selena complete with an account of a visit to Corpus right after her tragic death. Also included are a ton of pictures and sound clips.
• In HotWired: World Beat - Rough Guide - Texas, Wired Magazine's electronic Rough Guide visits Corpus Christi.
• Corpus Windsurfing FAQ maintained by Andrew Condon in Dublin. It is also available via an FTP site at the University of Vermont.

We are a consulting firm, we don't sell Internet service (though we do dabble in web design) so we try to be fair in our editorial comments on this page. We'll list any business or organization on this page for free if we feel they have adequate ties to Corpus, regardless of who they buy what from.
